Interim Court Order On Not To Exceed 13 Lakh Rupees For MBBS Seat in Deemed University:

The Madras High Court on Friday said a lot of fees for medical courses of 25 to 30 lakh rupees annually. At the same time, instructions have been issued for deemed universities of Tamil Nadu to take annual fee of 13 lakh rupees annually till the decision of the committee to fix the fees of University Grants Commission (UGC).

A bench headed by Chief Justice Indira Banerjee gave this direction while hearing the petition of Jawaharlal Shanmugam, who had given details of the fees by making a table in their petition, accusing them of charging a lot of tuition fees on these institutions.

Explain that the UGC has pledged to constitute the committee till June 30 to correct the fee structure of Deemed Universities across the country.

The bench directed the UGC’s Charging Committee to hear its recommendations within six weeks after hearing all the parties. Along with that, the matter of fixing fees for management quota seats before the fee committee was fixed at 11.5 lakh rupees per year.

In such a case, the university can take a fee of 13 lakh rupees for the condition that after the fixed duty is less then the rest will be returned to the students.
