The Kaja cyclonic storm on the Bay of Bengal is situated about 470 km south-east here and can knock on 15th November 2018 between Cuddalore and Pamban, which is expected to cause heavy rains in Tamil Nadu. Here the weather office told that “Gaza” could cross the coastal area between Pamban and Cuddalore on Thursday evening or night.
During this, winds can run at speeds up to 100 kilometers per hour. The Tamil Nadu government has already announced the deployment of 30,500 rescuers, while collectors of Tanjore, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore and Ramanathapuram have declared a holiday on schools and colleges on 15th November 2018, Thursday. In view of cyclonic storm, all educational institutions will be closed today in Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
The government has also talked to oil marketing companies and they have been asked to keep adequate reserves of fuel. Indian Navy has been alerted at the same time. According to the Navy, two Indian naval ships Ranvir and Khanjar are ready with additional diver, doctor, airborne boat, helicopter and relief material.
